Visiting São Paulo without a car

Hello visitors,

Are you driving here? Have any friends by car?
If not, smile. Traffic jam is the worst thing of São Paulo.

Here you are some tips to enjoy the city walking, by metro and bus.

The green line of our subway, travels along Paulista Avenue, wich is the open air cultural center of the city. Lots of shops, galleries, museuns, bookshops, banks and cinemas.

In the same metro line, the Vila Madalena station is just a few blocks walking, from the bohemian part of the city. There are hips of bars, restaurants and night clubs. Really cool!

The center of the city is another must. I would take two days to visit it without rush.

In the blue line of the metro, it is Liberdade (the oriental neighboorhood of the city). From there you can walk to Praça da Sé, where it is our cathedral, and other cultural places like Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil and Centro Cultural da Caixa (Caixa Cultural - Sé: Pça. da Sé, 111 – Tel. 3321-4400). Around there you can pass by the Salve Jorge Bar and visit the top of Banespa Building, a nice view from the city. In the same area, another must is the Mercado Municipal, Mosteiro São Bento, Pátio do Colégio, Teatro Municipal, Viaduto do Chá, Viaduto Santa Efigênia.

Next day you can visit the Pinacoteca do Estado, the Museum of Portuguese Language, Museum of Arte Sacra all of them at Luz Metro Station. If you are in the mood for a nice beer, Bar do Léo has the best chopp in the city.
